Rally For Conservation for BFF & Shamwari

22nd April & 9th September 2017

In 2017 Olsen's son Jeff, along with his friend Max Simpson went on a volunteering experience at Shamwari Wildlife Reserve in South Africa. They were so inspired by their experience they wanted to do something to support the amazing work they had witnessed and were involved in during their visit. Shortly after arriving home they dreamed up the idea of a car rally event and Rally for Conservation was born. Having persuaded both their fathers to lend their cars to support the cause, OAT and The Simpson's put together an auction event at St. John's School.

The auction was a huge success raising £40,000 for Born Free Foundation and Shamwari. The successful bidders drove the cars in the rally event on Saturday 9th September 2017. After breakfast, a drive through the Surrey Hills and a tour of the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking the group headed back to the Olsen's home for an after rally BBQ party.

Mission Possible Malawi for LWT

8th Feb 2017

We are proud to have sponsored this incredibly exciting event on behalf of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT). Its objective was to raise awareness of the challenges and successes of wildlife conservation in Malawi and encourage the audience to drive positive change. It was a huge success, attracting many high profile people who are committed to conservation including LWT's Patron's HRH The Duke of Gloucester and Virginia Mckenna OBE.

Collaboration was critical to its success, and presentations from renowned conservationists Will Travers, OBE (President of the Born Free Foundation), Dudu Douglas-Hamilton (Save the Elephants) and Charlie Mayhew, MBE (CEO Tusk Trust), alongside H.E. Kena Mphonda, the Malawi High Commissioner, Michael Nevin, the ex-British High Commissioner and Wellington Chindzakazi from the Malawi Police Service provided an insight into what can be achieved by working together.

A Summer Party for Animals Asia

25h June 2016

When Animals Asia got the devastating news that the venue for their summer fund-raiser had been flooded just weeks before the event, Sue was quick to step in and agreed to host a replacement event at the Olsen's home. Before long, everything was in place and over 100 people attended a magical night, as the sun set over the Surrey Hills. Guests were captivated by Jill Robinson, Founder of Animals Asia, and her account of the horrors and triumphs of tackling the Bear Bile Farming industry in Asia.

Heartfelt words were also shared by their patrons Peter Egan and Virginia McKenna, and our very own OATOKE Dave Higgs who had returned from Asia that day, having witnessed the horrors and amazing work of Animals Asia.  We are proud to have raised over £35,000 that night.

Out of Africa Fundraiser for Born Free

12th September 2014

Sue's first fundraising event was a night to remember. £50,000 was raised in aid of Born Free's Big Cat Sanctuary, located within Shamwari Private Game Reserve, South Africa. It was a spectacular evening, blessed with a pink - almost African - sunset that provided the perfect backdrop. Finishing touches that further evoked the spirit of Africa included a glamorous colonial style marquee, open fires, a traditional outdoor boma and an African choir who delighted everyone with their beautiful voices and dancing.  Over £50,000 was raised at the event which went towards the renovation and upgrade of the Big Cat Sanctuary.
