In 2020 we contributed to the development of a wildlife rehab centre at Shamwari Private Game Reserve in South Africa. The main purpose being to treat injured, displaced and orphaned wildlife in preparation for returning them to the wild. The centre not only treats Shamwari’s own wildlife but also treats animals from surrounding reserves and national parks.

Rehabilitation is managed and operates by a professional veterinary team under the leadership of Johan Joubert, head vet and Director of Wildlife. The facility is proving to be hugely successful and this year, OAT agreed to fund an expansion programme that included the construction of larger pre-release predator free enclosures to increase survival rate for the rehabilitated animals. 

We are excited to see this project growing from strength to strength and are also immensely appreciate support provided by the Simpson and Hosking families for their contribution to the initial development of the centre.
